University Park Information
University Park is a city in Dallas County, Texas, (USA). The population was 23,324 at the 2000 census. The city is home to Southern Methodist University and is well-known throughout the Dallas area as home to the wealthy and elite social classes. Like its neighbor, Highland Park, it is an enclave within the municipality of Dallas. Together, Highland Park and University Park form the Park Cities, which share Highland Park Independent School District.
The median income for a household in the city was $92,778, and the median
income for a family was $140,573. Males had a median income of $100,000 versus
$44,007 for females. The per capita income for the city was $63,414. About 3.3%
of families and 5.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including
3.9% of those under age 18 and 1.8% of those age 65 or over.
University Park is served by the Highland Park Independent School District.
Highland Park High School is located within the boundaries of University Park,
and it also serves the HPISD area in the city of Highland Park.
In 2005, the Highland Park High School Scots football team won its first state
championship since 1957. The team finished with a perfect record of 15-0 on the
year. The University Park high school, Highland Park High, is one of the most
legendary high school football programs in the state of Texas comparable with
Odessa Permian and Plano Senior High School.
